WFA Performance Ratings

Please take a look at our article on the WFA Performance Ratings for a more detailed explanation of the ratings and, in particular, understanding the difference between the WPR and ATW figures shown on the results page.

In short:

WPR = The rating for the horse's performance, normalised to our weight-for-age figure

ATW = The rating for the horse's performance at the weight it carried in the race

WPR Preliminary vs Final Status

WFA Performance Ratings are calculated after a detailed review of each meeting, which relies on the provision of additional information such as verified times and sectionals at a race and individual runner level. This means it is typically anywhere from two to five days before the post-race ratings are finalised for a meeting.

If you see the "WPR: Preliminary" flag against the race, as shown below, the meeting review has not yet been completed. The ratings shown are preliminary and may change.

If you see the "WPR: Final" flag against the race, as shown below, the meeting review has been completed, and the ratings are final.

Note: Non-Tab meetings undergo different review processes due to a lack of sectional data and replays to review. Their status remains as "Preliminary."
